Certbot ran into a bizarre certificate problem yesterday, which is fixed. However, it seems we are on certbot 1.8.0 and can either:

I’ve messed around a bit with DNS-based challenge/response for letsencrypt as well - would that perhaps be another option to consider?
Yeah, take a look at the linked installation documentation for those options. Also see our setup in ~/repos/certbot
